BCM International Exchange
Association, Ltd. (BIEA)
BIEA specializes in providing overseas experiences
to BCM students and other internationally minded people.
Many students dream of someday experiencing life in another
country. BIEA strives to offer programs to suit all needs
and interests. Our counselors meet with BCM students interested
in finding out about studying abroad and/or experiencing
a homestay. During the individual consultations, our counselors
discuss such things as the student's goals, current English
ability, previous overseas experience, budget, country
and region of interest, and desired length of study in
order to determine which of the many schools and programs
suit the student's individual needs, interests, and character.
Programs can be broken down into group and individual.
Group courses are special short courses which take place
during spring and summer school vacations and last from
two to four weeks. Groups are accompanied by a BIEA counselor
and students stay with local families and participate
in a combination of English classes, sight-seeing, and
cultural events, depending on the country, region, and
school the student selects. These programs are especially
popular with students who are going abroad for the first
time, and/or have little confidence in their English ability.
Individual programs are as varied as the people who participate
in them. They include study courses at GEOS overseas schools
and other language schools, vocational schools, high schools,
colleges, universities and graduate schools, as well as
working holiday programs
If a student applies for one of our programs, they receive
the full support of BIEA staff, with matters such as school
applications, visa applications, travel arrangements,
etc.. We also provide a pre-departure orientation, where
we go over both the practical aspects of living abroad,
(what to take, using traveler's cheques, opening bank
accounts, etc.) and mental preparation for the cultural
differences participants are about to encounter.
BIEA is constantly designing new programs to appeal to
an even broader market, so please watch for further information,
and encourage your students to make an appointment to
meet with one of our counselors, to see if we can help
them make a dream come true.
